In a new edition of the Higher University Course of Sports Management of the Real Federacion Española de Futbol (RFEF), Driblab’s CEO, Salvador Carmona, taught a module to future sports directors, on the use of data in sports management, with the attraction of talent and the filtering of players as the main topic.
The RFEF has been relying on Driblab for its courses, divided into different modules taught by professionals of the highest level. In the presentation, we explained to the students the value of a mixed model sports management and the importance of an optimized database ready to be adapted to each club. These were some of the ideas developed by Salvador Carmona in which Driblab supports clubs and federations.
On the model of sports management and scouting: “The ideal in football is to manage a mixed model of scouting; the data is fully compatible with that other fundamental section which is to see the player live and to know the person emotionally.
On spotting talent: “Sometimes we watch football from scratch without knowing what talents we are going to find but if that work would be done after filtering a search, scouting departments would save time and money in watching football players.”
On acquiring a big data tool fully adapted to sports management: “In football there are many variables, so the important thing about a database dedicated to obtaining valuable information in the world of football is that it is as flexible and adaptable to the needs of each club.”
