As the first round of the Copinha gets underway, we unveil and analyse some of the best U20 talents in Brazilian football, an endless place of talent.

One of the most representative U-20 football competitions in the world is currently taking place in Brazil, the Sao Paulo Futebol Junior Cup, better known as the Copinha, a competition that has produced some of the best talents in Brazilian football, and which brings together players much younger than the 20 years that serve as the age limit. Players such as Neymar, Casemiro, Alisson, Vinicius, Marquinhos and Gabriel Jesus played in this competition.

A competition whose data we have in Driblab and from which we can already note some interesting names, some more unknown, which can join those who started as more relevant, such as Matheus Martins, Matheus Araujo or Gabriel Silva. After the group stage and the start of the next phase, we have selected the best eleven, according to our ‘Driblab Score, from the first three matches of a competition that we will cover in its entirety, with all the usual data and metrics.

  • Matheus França (2004): One of the players to watch in this and upcoming championships is Matheus França, a winger who has already been highlighted in the tournament preview and is considered one of the most promising talents of his generation. Not in vain, he already stands out at the age of 16. A player with a huge involvement in all his team’s offensive actions, with a great personality to take on the threat of his team.
  • Kayke (2003): Also for Flamengo, midfielder Kayke David Pereira is one of the most dribbling midfielders of the group stage, which ended on 11 January. He also has a good defensive commitment and good numbers in individual duels down low. His influence on the game has been total at Flamengo.
  • Matheus Juliao (2003): One of the best players of the tournament so far, not just the best full-back, is Vasco da Gama’s Matheus Juliao, among the best in almost every metric for the position. As a Brazilian, his offensive and creative vocation marks his game, able to move the ball forward and to participate in play, absorbing a large number of moves that end in shots (xG Chain). Also very good in aerial duels.
